"Explore how the connected home of 2030 could help to create inclusive experiences for all Sky customers, by putting diverse users at the heart of your design thinking."
We decided to focus on how individuals with spinal cord injuries interact with their connected home, and how future technological advancements can help them achieve more independence.
"Every year 2,500 individuals in the UK sustain a spinal cord injury and half of these result in quadriplegia, a condition that severely limits physical function. Because of this people with quadriplegia often rely on assistance to complete daily activities, which leads to a loss of their independence.
Harnessing the technological advancements of neurological implants, Sky Verve bridges the gap left by quadriplegia. Connecting users to their Sky Home devices, individuals can interact with their connected home through their thoughts. Sky Verve revolutionises accessibility, granting individuals to the ability to navigate their environment, creating a new era of assistive technology."
